Milton is the county seat of Santa Rosa County and sits on the Blackwater River, the stretch known as the canoe capital of Florida.

Downtown has the Imogene Theatre and the riverwalk.

North of town it opens up toward Whiting Field and the Blackwater River State Forest, with rural acreage and new homesites along SR 87 and SR 89.

Santa Rosa County is growing fast, and a lot of that growth starts as wooded land.
